|Dr. William Turner|
Dr. William Turner joined Longview Orthopedic Associates in 1988 after completing a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Oklahoma, where he served as chief resident during his fifth year of training.
Dr. Turner has introduced several modern techniques to Cowlitz County, performing the first arthroscopic anterior cruciate reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder surgeries at St. John Hospital. He has performed more than 12,000 surgeries during his career. Although his practice was noted for sports medicine in the early years, the growing demand for joint restoration, resurfacing and replacement led him to master the surgeries that arthritic patients require. Dr. Turner now directs the Joint Replacement and Hip Fracture Programs at St. John Medical Center. The Joint Program ranks in the top 10 percent on many quality measures. Dr. Turner performs hundreds of joint resurfacing and replacement procedures yearly and continues to incorporate the latest innovations that improve results for his patients. From computer navigated surgery to outpatient joint replacement, modern approaches are employed by the most experienced surgeon in the area to strive for great results.
The focus of Dr. Turner's practice is the non-surgical and surgical care – from arthroscopic repair to joint replacement – of knees, hips and shoulders. His approach is to first explore alternatives to surgical treatment. When surgery is appropriate, he utilizes the most modern, minimally invasive techniques and the most effective rehabilitation strategies. He is available to provide services at both St. John and at the state-of-the-art surgery center at Pacific Surgical Institute.
Dr. Turner is a lifelong supporter of high school and college athletics, with over 20 years on the sidelines at local high school games and providing care for the Lower Columbia College Red Devils. He enjoys learning and teaching, and often has medical and nursing students as well as high school students considering health care careers
