Dr. Lauder Featured at Bellevue Symposium
A.J. Lauder, MD, of Longview Orthopedic Associates was a featured presenter at the recent Upper Extremity Trauma Symposium at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington.
Most of those who enrolled in the symposium were hand therapists, with some physical therapists and occupational therapists in attendance as well.
Much of the focus was on educating the hand therapists about situations they may be dealing with when treating patients who have undergone various types of hand and wrist procedures.
"We discussed the latest operative and non-operative techniques for addressing traumatic hand and upper extremity injuries," Lauder said. "This included new plating techniques for distal radius fractures and soft tissue reconstruction for wrist instabilities."
"I tried to give the therapists a sense of when a phone call to the surgeon might be necessary, so that the therapists’ concerns about possible complications can be voiced."
Dr. Lauder has co-authored nearly a dozen books dealing with the hand and wrist and has instructed at numerous national seminars.
