Dr. Kung Earns National Recognition
Peter Kung, MD, of Longview Orthopedic Associates (LOA) was invited by Depuy-Mitek to serve as a faculty member at a two-day sports medicine seminar in Las Vegas on March 28 and 29.
The course was attended by more than 65 orthopedic surgery fellows from around the country who participated in lectures and labs to hone their skills. Kung led small-group demonstrations that focused on arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgeries. (Orthopedic sports fellows have competed five years of orthopedic surgery residency and are pursuing an additional year of specialty training to further improve their skills.)
"It was an incredible honor to be invited as faculty and to be included with many of the past presidents of the Arthroscopy Association of North America," he said. "It was also an honor to be teaching the future leaders in sports medicine."
Dr. Kung completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California at San Francisco and worked as a sports medicine fellow at the prestigious Kerlan-Job Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
"We were the team physicians for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Anaheim Angels, and other pro and college teams," Kung said.
Dr. Kung’s special interests include sports medicine and arthroscopy. He has practiced in the local area for the past five years.
"Teaching invitations from Depuy-Mitek are only extended to the most qualified surgeons," said Kathleen Lappe, clinic manager at LOA. "This is evidence that one of our physicians is among the premier sports medicine surgeons in the nation."
